Learning Technology
Maine already leads the nation in development of laptop learning, but often the laptops are tied to an antiquated model of education rather than leveraging the potential by integrating technology as a element core to the learning process. While most students are familiar with technology that enhances learning, very few teachers or students are familiar with how deeply technology can change the way we analyze, monitor, and assess progress.  MFES seeks to take a learner’s fascination and adeptness with technology and make it the vehicle through which s/he learns and demonstrates learning, producing very specific data on strengths and weaknesses. That data can be gathered and assessed and learning plans can be adjusted at the rate of the learner, rather than the rate of the class or the teacher, so that no student is left behind, and none are stuck learning what they already know.
