MFES treats stewardship of education, environment, and the economy as equal and inseparable. Our project is intended as a model for developing schools in which nutrition and food production, air and water quality, land and water use, and the economics of energy consumption are THE curriculum. Not only will our graduates be able to lead the next generation of sustainable farming in Maine, but our project will function as an incubator for developing and managing Maine’s natural resources and energy solutions – community specific innovations that preserve a Quality of Place consistent with long-term economic viability.
