Maine is known globally for its natural beauty. Preserving and enhancing Maine’s quality of place must be done at both the micro and macro level. Maine needs policies that support and encourage efforts to preserve our quality of place, and we need communities dedicated to ensuring their own viability through a commitment to quality of place. MFES recognizes the inherent value in improving Maine’s quality of place on a community-by-community basis. Each MFES will promote small, sustainable businesses, develop a curriculum that engages young people in the community, and partner with working farms to keep the community connected with the rich heritage of Maine farming.
